24 NOV: One of the dresses worn by Judy Garland when she played Dorothy in the 1939 movie Wizard of Oz has sold for $1.5 million at an auction in New York. The gingham pinafore was described as having some sweat stains around the neck, but in good condition, and was among the top items in a sale of movie memorabilia in New York. One of the most popular musicals of all time the Wizard of Oz brought to life a well-known American fairytale. It made Garland a star for the rest of her life.
