» 17 NOV: Underwater photographer, Alexander Semenov, recently captured this image of a Lion's Mane jellyfish. These jellyfish are the largest known species in the world and are usually found in cold waters such as the Arctic, North Atlantic and North Pacific. They are cannibals and feed on other jellyfish such as moon jellies. Their sting is not fatal to humans. Thirty-year-old Semenov, from Moscow, Russia, carries out the majority of his work in the White Sea, near the Arctic Circle. He works with divers from Moscow State University's White Sea Biological Station, where he spends every day over a four-month period photographing and overseeing expeditions.
